After consulting with some early adopters, we have decided to acquire a new cutting edge GNSS* receiver – Leica Geosystems’ GS18T.
It is indeed a fantastic development in Leica’s lineup of high precision survey instruments. This receiver combines the GNSS engine and MEMs based inertial measurement units (IMUs). It is self-calibrating and immune to magnetic field disturbances. T, in this case, stands for “Tilt.” It is now possible to accurately survey a location without levelling the range pole. At first, this seems like just an exciting feature, but no more than a neat feature. in reality, they’re quite a few advantages:
- Surveyor can access features under obstacles
- SAFETY!
Another advantage of this receiver is improved reception in “multipath” zones (near buildings, in the dense canopy).
